Alumni House to Become a Reality The Universitys more
than 48,000 alumni will soon have a new home the William
Paterson University Alumni House, located in a picturesque setting at
Oldham Pond in North Haledon. The 7,000-square-foot building
and the adjacent 27-acre pond, located a half-mile from the main campus,
were donated to the University by the Bayer Corporation in 1998. Extensive
renovations are due to begin this fall. Upon completion, the house will
become a home away from home for returning alumni and will
serve as the headquarters for the Alumni Relations Office. The estimated
cost of the renovation is $600,000. As part of the project, the
William Paterson Alumni Association has agreed to secure $500,000 in private
charitable gifts towards the cost of construction. The Alumni House Campaign
Chair, Allan Gorab 72, and his wife Michele, have committed $100,000
to the project. In recognition of their generosity, the Alumni House will
bear their name. There are many opportunities
to help fund the remaining costs, says Connie Alexis-Laona, annual
fund manager. Every gift brings us closer to opening the doors to
our new alumni home. Opportunities for leadership gifts range from
$1,000 through $15,000 and beyond. Alumni who are interested in supporting the Alumni House Campaign and continuing the strong tradition of philanthropy at William Paterson can call Alexis-Laona at 973.720.2478. William Paterson Society
