Incoming First-Year Student Surveys

Each year, the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment administers a survey to incoming first-year students that asks them a series of questions regarding their impressions of William Paterson, why they decided to come here, and what they expect to encounter when they enroll in the fall.  Click here for reports on this survey.

In 1999 and 2005, our first-year students responded to the CIRP (Cooperative Institutional Research Program) Freshman Survey.  The results of these surveys, discussed in the reports included here, provide important insight on the secondary school experiences of our first-year students, as well as their expectations of the college experience and their academic and professional goals.

The "Your First College Year (YFCY)" survey is a nationally-normed instrument designed to measure students' academic, social, and personal experiences and development during the first year of college.  It was jointly developed by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) and the Policy Center on the First Year of College.  The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment administered the survey to full-time first-time first-year students who entered in Fall 2001 and returned for their second semester in Spring 2002.  Click here for a series of reports that analyze our students' responses to this survey.
