Computer Equipment Redistribution/Disposal

Policy:

When a department, school or division determines that it has unneeded (surplus) computer equipment that is in working condition, an effort should me made to redistribute it. First consideration should be given to redistribution within the department, school or division following local practices. When redistribution within these units is not feasible, the equipment should be made available to other units at the University following the procedures outlined below. The disposal of computer equipment is governed by the university policy, Sale or Disposal of University Property.

Note: Computer equipment that does not meet the current network requirements will not be supported. The use of this equipment will be stand alone only AND maintenance will be the responsibility of the receiving department. Questions concerning network requirements should be addressed to Network and Hardware Services or the Help Desk.

Procedures for Redistribution or Disposing of Surplus Computer Equipment

  • Helpdesk Tech Assistants (HDTA)  will assess the condition of the equipment. If it is in working condition, It will be redistributed within the department
