An independent study allows matriculated students to earn credit
for extensive readings, research, practica or other individualized projects
in a specific area of study. It is not designed to substitute for other
courses offered by the academic departments.
- Students may arrange with
a faculty member to serve as supervisor of the proposed project.
- Prepare a written proposal
to be approved by the faculty supervisor.
- The proposal must be submitted
for approval in the middle of the semester prior to the semester in
which the independent study will be pursued.
- An independent study must
be aprroved by all of the following: Sponsoring Faculty Member, Chairperson,
Dean.
- The approved Independent
Study form MUST be submitted in person by the student to the Office
of the Registrar.
- The form must be submitted
no later than the end of the program adjustment period for the semester
in which the independent study is to be taken.
