The Memorial Day Nursery is the oldest day care center in Paterson, NJ and one of the first of its kind in the nation that remains dedicated to its founding mission of nurturing the children of working parents and providing essential early childhood education.

Teacher’s Assistant

A Teacher Assistant should be of good character and reputation, should respect and understand children, be sensitive to and capable of meeting their needs. The Assistant is under the supervision of the Group and Head Teacher’s.

  • The student will assist the Group Teacher in classroom by carrying out the assigned daily responsibilities.
  • Maintain friendly relationships with parents and share pertinent information obtained through contacts with parents.
  • Attend parent meetings and maintain friendly relations with staff.
  • Attend in-service training and special workshops or conferences.

School 27 ¨ Paterson, NJ

This after school program will be administered by William Paterson University of New Jersey and is
funded by a grant from New Jersey After 3 Inc., a private, non-profit organization dedicated to expanding after school opportunities for New Jersey's kids. The program will run at School 27 for the whole school year and will take place after school from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Working together School 27 and William Paterson University developed a wide variety of fun, educational programs for children.

Activity Assistant

The Activity Assistant reports to the Site Coordinator, who has supervisory and administrative responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the after school program. Activity Assistants work directly with the Lead Activity Instructors (primarily certified teachers) in the classroom and other settings. The Assistant supports the delivery of instruction and other projects developed by the Instructor. The Assistant's main responsibility is to enable the Instructor to teach larger groups by effectively extending the Instructor's ability to communicate with the group.

  • Engaging small groups of students in various activities developed by a lead instructor.
  • Disseminating and collecting information.
  • Communicating with small groups of students.
  • Providing support to students completing homework.
  • Engaging with physical activities with students.
  • Providing mentorship to select students.
  • Assisting small groups of students with the development of projects and presentations.

 

Boys and Girls Club of Wayne

The Boys and Girls Club of Wayne runs a few programs in which the senior counselors interact with children of various ages. They offer a Kindergarten program, Computer technology program, After school program, and Athletics program.

Senior Counselor

  • Kindergarten Program: Child-care provided for large group of kindergarten students. Includes constant supervision of children during arts and crafts, organized games, computer class, snack and lunch time, as well as assistance on educational worksheets. Hours run 9:00am - 3:00pm Monday through Friday.
  • Computer Technology Program: We run a recognized program to teach children computer skills such as creating personalized music off Sony Acid Pro, Adobe Photo Shop, movie/video productions, web design, and much more. Looking for knowledgeable person to assist our Technology Director in running programs, installing and updating software, as well as general maintenance. Experience in computer terminology and Windows XP a plus. Hours are flexible.
  • After School Programs for Wayne and North Haledon: Child-care provided for children ranging in ages 5-13. Responsible for supervising and interacting with a designated group of children. Must be innovative enough to create a fun environment apart from what our club facilities have to offer. Hours run Monday through Friday 2:45 or 3:30PM (depending on which site you work out of) until 6:00PM.
  • Athletics: Little Panthers Program on Fridays and Saturdays where we teach Pre-K children the basics of certain sports such as basketball, soccer, floor hockey, footballs, and baseball. We also hire referees for various sports during the weeknights and weekends. Volunteer coach positions also available for many different sport teams. Hours also vary.

Boys and Girls Club of Clifton New Jersey After 3

This after school program is for children 6 - 13 years of age. Various arts and craft, learning and athletic activities are offered.

Group Leader

Paterson YMCA New Jersey After 3

Our program will provide after school programming for our 427 children at Alexander Hamilton Academy, Norman S. Weir, and our newest addition Public School #28. Our goal is to improve upon the skills and talents children already possess, while exposing them to new interests as well. The NJ3/YMCA will provide all students with one hour of homework assistance, as well as enrichment activities including: drama, art, chess, creative writing, martial arts, dance, music and computers.
