Bilingual Certification Program

* Requirements for Admission
1. An initial NJ teaching certificate (Standard or Advanced Standing only) in content areas that can be taught bilingually. Holders of an English or foreign Language teaching certificate should consult the program director.
2. A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75 ona 4.00 scale.

TBED 540 History and Cultural Roots of Bilinguals in the United States
TBED 542 Social & Psychological Processes of the Multicultural Experience
TBED 641 Methods, Materials, & Assessment
TBED 642 Contrastive Linguistics
TBED 645 Content Area in Bilingual Education
TBED 660 Field Research: Internship in Bilingual Education
* A passing score on the Language Proficiency Interview Test in English & language of instruction.

ESL Certification Program

¨ Requirements for Admission
1. An initial New Jersey teaching certificate (Standard or Advanced Standing only).
2. A cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.00 scale.

TBED 661 Field Research: Internship in ESL

·A passing score on the Language Proficiency Interview Test in English.

Master's of Education
Bilingual/ESL Concentration

¨ Requirements For Admission
1. A Bachelor's Degree.
2. A cumulative undergraduate grade point averageof at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
3. A passing score on the GRE or MAT.
4. A copy of a teaching certificate or resume of any teaching or educational work completed
(International students should consult the program director.)
5. Others (Please consult current graduate catalog.)
