Martin Weinstein got his Bachelor's degree from Columbia College, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from New York University. He began at William Paterson in 1971. His area of specialization is Latin America. He is the author of Uruguay: The Politics of Failure (1975), and Uruguay: Democracy at the Crossroads (1988), and editor of Revolutionary Cuba in the World Arena (1979). In 1994 he was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to lecture in Argentina and Uruguay. Dr. Weinstein serves as advisor to Encyclopedia Britannica on all Uruguay entries and is a member of the board of Reaching U- a foundation for Uruguay. His most recent publication is a chapter entitled "The Left’s Long Road to Power in Uruguay" in a volume on the Left in Latin America to be published by Palgrave/Macmillan later this year.
