Do I
have to be accepted? Matriculated?
Yes, students must be accepted to university and accepted into a
degree program (matriculated).Non-degree and/or visiting students are not eligible.
Do I
have to be in current good academic standing? What happens if I fail a class? Yes, students must be in current good academic standing and maintain
good academic standing throughout the semester/ academic year. Students must attain passing grades.
If the student does not achieve this, reimbursement to the University for all waived costs is required.
Do I
have to file for Financial Aid?
Yes, all students are required to file a Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the first day of the semester.
Do
grants affect my tuition waiver?
Students receiving any Grants (Federal and/or State),
Scholarships, or any other gift will have the Waiver decreased by same
amount. If the student is eligible for State and/or Federal Grants, the
student must complete all requested information to attain those Grants.
The
Financial Aid Office/State of NJ wants documentation from me. Do I have to
respond?
Students who are selected for federal verification or
have any outstanding request within the Financial Aid Office or at the State
level will be required to complete this process before a Waiver will be
honored. If the student fails to submit the document requested by the given
deadline then the grants will not absorb the tuition cost. Failure to respond
to document request by the given deadline can reduce waiver amount. If the
50% drop period is over and the request is not completed, the Waiver will not
be honored. If the student does not meet the eligibility requirements to
receive Financial Aid then the student will be ineligible to participate in
the tuition waiver program.
Can I
use the Waiver for Study Abroad/Student Exchange? Can I be on Work-Study?
No, the use of the Waiver is not permissible.
What
happens if I withdraw/take a leave of absence?
It is the student’s responsibility to notify the Office in the event of
withdrawing from a course or the University itself. The tuition waiver will only cover
courses you are enrolled in.
