Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (IR&A)
What Do We Do?
The following are the current major responsibilities of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.
 
1. Prepare annual statistical reports. Examples are:
   
Fact Book
   
Statistical packet for each department
    Statistical overview packet with information for all programs
 

2.

Prepare semester statistical reports. Examples are:
   
Enrollment Report
    Grade Distribution and Enrollment by Course Level Report
   
Faculty Load Reports
   
Faculty Line Analysis
    Class Sections over Days of the Week
 
3. Conduct surveys and other studies on topics of special interest to the University. Examples are:
   
National Survey of Student Engagement
   
Student Satisfaction Survey
   
HERI Faculty Survey
   
Annual survey of entering first-year students
   
Surveys of alumni
 

4.

Participate in National Studies. Examples are:

   
National Study of Financial Aid
   
HERI Faculty Survey
   
AAUP and CUPA Faculty Compensation Studies
   
CSRDE Student Retention Consortium
 

5.

Prepare statistical reports/data bases for external agencies. Examples are: The Student Unit Record Enrollment (SURE) data bases on fall and spring enrolled students and graduates submitted to the Commission on Higher Education.

Respond to external surveys. Examples are:

7.
Oversee special databases. Examples are:
   
Student cohorts
   
Basic Skills
   
Space Inventory
   
Faculty Workload
   
Faculty Line Analysis
8.
Provide support for planning at the university, college and department level.
   
9.
Coordinate Program Review for academic departments.
   
10.
Provide support for accreditation studies at the university, college and program level.
   
11.
Respond to ad hoc requests for information and analysis by administrative and academic departments.
   
12.
Provide technical and research support to administrative offices such as Admissions, EOF, Financial Aid, Certification, Tests and Measurement, CEDL.
   
13.
Provide technical assistance to outcomes assessment and evaluation efforts, campus wide. Examples are:
   
Review of survey instruments
   
Assistance in creating scannable survey forms
   
Assistance in creating Web-based surveys
   

Assistance in analyzing and interpreting results

       
14.
Through formal oral, written and IT presentations, as well as participation on committees, and availability of information on the Web, widely disseminate information about the University.
   
15.
Provide leadership in improving and maintaining the accuracy and consistency of institutional data across databases.
