Who We Are

Individual Giving

Why do we give?

Individuals decide to support philanthropic initiatives for many reasons
often based on deeply held emotions or strong convictions. These reasons include:
The desire to memorialize others, particularly loved ones
The desire to leave a personal legacy
A commitment to give something back for the rewards received
Interest in perpetuating one’s own beliefs
An affinity to the programs and goals of an institution
Many of these motivations to give philanthropically will lead a donor to desire some external recognition of their gift.  This can be accomplished in a number of ways. For example, a donor’s name can be attached to an endowment fund, an academic program, a building, classroom space, lecture halls, a scholarship or a seminar series.
Either way, a gift should be a joyful one — to both the donor and the recipient of the charitable gift.
For more information or to make a gift, please contact Joanne Nigrelli, Executive Director of Development at 973-720-2332 or nigrellij@wpunj.edu.
