Mr. Joseph Caffarelli serves as the chief administrator for Residence Life. In his capacity as director, he is responsible for the ultimate supervision of the Residence Life Department and developing and implementing policies and procedures regarding the residence halls. In addition, he coordinates, monitors, and prepares the Residence Life budget, as well as oversees the student discipline process.
Ms. Patricia Whiteman is responsible for multiple programs within the department, including marketing of the program and new student recruitment into the Residence Life program. She also oversees the logistics of housing new students during Summer Orientation, the new student assignment process, billing, residential record keeping, and reassignment of continuing resident students through the spring Room Selection process. In addition, as the Associate Director, she is responsible for long-range facilities management and computer systems management within the department.
Ms. Kathleen Hallissey supervises the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of the professional and paraprofessional staff. In addition, she oversees a comprehensive programming effort in the residence halls. She also oversees the staff in the administration of the summer conference programs, designs the Residence Life Handbook, and maintains the Residence Life judicial program.
Mr. Nick DiMinni is responsible for coordinating the maintenance and renovations of the residence halls; purchasing furniture and other hall equipment; inventory of furniture; public area damage assessment and common area damage billing; key control management; and managing summer conference programs and conference workers. In addition, he acts as a liaison to other University offices and support services in matters involving both daily and long-term management/care and upkeep of the residential facilities. In addition, he oversees the central operations of the Residence Hall front desks.
Ms. Rebecca Fegeley is responsible for the programmatic efforts within the residence hall community. She seeks to create, provide, and distribute programming, educational, and leadership resources and opportunities to the paraprofessional staff and students in the residence halls. In addition, she works very closely with the Alcohol.edu program, and provides joint programmatic opportunities with other departments on campus.
Mr. Jonathan Lausell provides workshops and group gatherings whose primary focus is on issues related to recovery and substance free educational opportunities.
The residence halls have area hall offices which serve as the communications centers for each of the buildings. The hall administrators (Resident Directors) are full-time, live-in professionals who have completed their Master’s degrees in Student Personnel/Counseling or a related field. They are responsible for overseeing the daily functioning of the facilities and the programs within the residence halls. They conduct judicial hearings when University Policy is violated, see to the well-being of all residents, and supervise a staff of Resident Assistants, who are undergraduate students. The hall administrators live on campus in order to respond to the needs of the students in emergency situations. Each administrator has extensive training in student services and residential issues, and serves as a resource person for the students and the Residence Life staff.
Resident Assistants are undergraduate students specifically selected and trained to deal with a variety of situations. These staff members enforce policy and develop programs in order to create an environment conducive to living and learning. They create and implement educational and social programs, enforce policy, and complete administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the hall.
Desk Assistant staff members are undergraduate students responsible for enforcing the security and visitation policy within the residence halls by verifying the identity of residents entering the hall using our University ID card access machines. These individuals are especially selected and trained to act as resources for visitors.
