Cotsakos College of Business Launches New Master of Science Program to Meet Growing Demand for Financial Service Professionals

Professor Lawrence Verzani and Adrian Rodriguez '19

William Paterson University’s Cotsakos College of Business, in response to demographic, technology, and social economic factors fueling the rapid growth and demand for well-trained senior finance and financial planning professionals, is launching a new master of science in finance and financial services.

The twin track program is unique because it offers curriculum aligned with industry standard professional certification for students who wish to obtain either the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designations.

“This new master of science in finance and financial services is exceptional because it will appeal to both professionals already in the field who are looking to advance their careers as well as undergraduate students interested in this rapidly growing field,” says Susan Godar, interim dean of the Cotsakos College of Business.

The 30-credit program can be completed in 15 months or one calendar year. Focused on industry standards, it will prepare students for senior level positions in the finance and financial services industry. Graduates will have industry relevant skills and the ability to use appropriate technologies and processes that lead to improved financial performance for organizations and individuals. Completion can lead to CFA® for the finance track and CFP® for the financial services track designations.

Courses are offered in the evenings in online, hybrid, or face-to-face formats. Applications for spring and fall 2020 are now being accepted.
