The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

The SAT Program offers two reliable, objective standardized tests.  The SAT is administered seven times a year while the SAT Subject test is offered six times a year.  It is used by colleges and universities to measure the critical thinking skills needed for college success.(Collegebord 2013). 

The SAT measures critical reading, mathematical reasoning and writing skills and Subject Tests measure knowledge and skills in five major subject area.  The SAT Subject Test covers English, history,mathematics, science and foreign languages (Collegeboard 2013).

On your scheduled test day you should prepare to arrive at the center 7:30am. Testing begins at 8:00am and will end approximately 12:30pm. The following is a list of what you should and should not bring to the test center:

Admission Ticket

Cell phone, pager, electronics or cell phone calculator

Acceptable photo identifcation

Timer or watch with audible alarm or separate timers

No. 2 pencils and soft eraser

Electronic writing pad or pen, stylus, e,g., Palm, PDA

Acceptable calculator (graphing and scientific)

Calculator that has a QWERTY keyboard.

Watch (without audible alarm)

IPods, MP3 players, laptops, notebooks
