The following scholarships were made possible through the generosity of donors to the William Paterson University Foundation. Scholarships are subject to renewal by donors and actual amounts may vary depending on donations and accrued interest. Eligible international students may be considered for most awards. ALICE WALDRON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP The Alice Waldron Endowed Scholarship was created by former William Paterson University President Dr. Kathleen Waldron in memory of her aunt for a full-time undergraduate student who demonstrates: academic achievement with a minimum high school grade point average of 3.2 as an entering freshman or a 3.3 GPA as a continuing undergraduate student; financial hardship, not necessarily as defined by the federal government; community involvement for the betterment of William Paterson University; and who is from the city of Paterson, New Jersey. The Alice Waldron Endowed Scholarship is renewable for up to four years (eight consecutive semesters) if the student maintains full-time status (minimum of 12 credit hours), and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.30. Incoming students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for this scholarship. Academic performance is reviewed each semester and students who do not satisfy the criteria for the renewal of their scholarship award are notified in writing. ARAB AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIP The Arab American Scholarship provides support for undergraduate students with financial need who seek to become leaders in their disciplines and contribute to their community. The scholarships are open to full-time incoming freshman, transfer, and matriculated students. Citizenship is not a requirement; students with international or refugee status are eligible. The factors considered for selection include the following: Arab American descent and/or demonstrated interest in Arab American studies and communities; demonstrated financial need; and completion of an online application including an essay demonstrating a commitment to developing as a leader in the discipline of their choice, to enhancing their own and Arab communities around the world, and to substantially contributing to the social and intellectual development of those communities, now and in the future. The Arab American Scholarship is renewable for up to four years (eight consecutive semesters) if the recipient maintains full-time status (minimum of 12 credit hours), is in good academic standing, and continues to meet all scholarship criteria. Only one applicant per family will be considered. Academic performance is reviewed each semester and students who do not satisfy the criteria for the renewal of their scholarship award are notified in writing. KATHLEEN WALDRON SCHOLARSHIP The Dr. Kathleen Waldron Scholarship was created by former William Paterson University President Dr. Kathleen Waldron for first-time, regularly admitted freshmen, with preference given to students who have been high achievers in high school. The Dr. Kathleen Waldron Scholarship is renewable for up to four years (eight consecutive semesters) if the student maintains full-time status (minimum of 12 credit hours) and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50. Incoming students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for this scholarship. Academic performance is reviewed each semester and students who do not satisfy the criteria for the renewal of their scholarship award are notified in writing. EMILIA AND JACK WALDRON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP The Emilia and Jack Waldron Endowed Scholarship was created by former William Paterson University President Dr. Kathleen Waldron in memory of her parents for first-time, fall term, regularly admitted freshmen. The Emilia and Jack Waldron Endowed Scholarship is renewable for up to four years (eight consecutive semesters) if the student maintains full-time status (minimum of 12 credit hours), and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00. Academic performance is reviewed each semester and students who do not satisfy the criteria for the renewal of their scholarship award are notified in writing. FRED C. RUMMEL SCHOLARSHIP The Fred C. Rummel Scholarship was funded by the Rummel Foundation for full-time undergraduate students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership and character through community service or activities, and reside in Essex or Union counties, with preference given to financially needy students enrolled in the University Honors College. GIVE SOMETHING BACK FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP The Give Something Back Foundation Scholarship was funded by the Give Something Back Foundation for tuition, fees, and on-campus room and board for deserving students. Students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually to be considered for this scholarship. In addition, students must be at least partially Pell Grant eligible at the time of their selection, have completed the Give Something Back program or be otherwise recommended for admission by the Give Something Back Foundation, and satisfy William Paterson University's admission requirements. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years (eight consecutive semesters) if the student maintains full-time status (minimum of 12 credit hours) and continues to meet all other scholarship criteria. HENRY J. SHOTMEYER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP I The Henry J. Shotmeyer Endowed Scholarship I was funded by Hayley Shotmeyer Rooney for a high achieving incoming freshman from an urban high school (as defined by ABBOTT school designation in New Jersey) who has demonstrated financial need. The Henry J. Shotmeyer Endowed Scholarship I is renewable for up to four years (eight consecutive semesters) if the student maintains full-time status (minimum of 12 credit hours) and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50.
