William Paterson University student and baseball player Dan Carter '23, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, earned a spot on the D3baseball.com Preseason All-America First Team on Jan. 11.Carter, a 2022 D3baseball.com third-team all-America and first-team all-Region 4 honoree, will look to build on a career year that resulted in the senior being named the Bill Dioguardia New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Player of the Year and a first-team all-conference selection.Last season, Carter carried a .432 (82-190) batting average while starting 45 games, recording 14 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 62 RBI, 36 runs scored, a .467 on-base percentage, .668 slugging percentage and 1.135 OPS. He finished first in the NJAC in average (27th in Division III), hits (tied-ninth nationally) and RBI (tied-20th in Division III), tied-second in sacrifice flies (five), tied-fourth in homers, sixth in slugging percentage and OPS, tied-seventh in doubles and eighth in on-base percentage. He also ranked nationally in total bases (127, tied-25th) and RBI/game (1.38, 26th).The NJAC's defending baseball champion, the William Paterson University Pioneers open their 2023 season with a home doubleheader against Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, Feb. 18, with first pitch slated for 11:00 a.m. at Jeff Albies Field.
