Artworks by WP MFA Students on View in New York Exhibition through July 22

--Opening reception is Thursday, June 20 at 6 p.m.

A selection of artworks by 16 William Paterson University graduate students pursuing master of fine arts degrees are on view in an exhibition space in Chelsea in New York City through July 22, 2023. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, July 20 at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

The exhibition, titled Shifting, features artworks by in a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, photography, video, and animation.

"This year's summer show highlights the artwork and achievements of our MFA visual arts students during the previous academic year,” says Steve Rittler, William Paterson professor of art and director of the graduate program. “This year, we return our annual summer show to New York City in Chelsea and we look forward to a great exhibition and opening celebration on July 20.”

Participating students are Julian Alvarez ’21 of Wood-Ridge, Melissa Carubia of Hackettstown, Andrew Davenport ’21 of Teaneck, Jessica Dutschmann of Boonton, Lauren Fowler-Calisto of Wayne, Richard Franco of Rutherford, Joshua Lopez ’21 of Newton, Daija McNeil of Willingboro, Jean Felix Oyoue of Weehawken, Marcos Salazar ‘20 of Paterson, Kitty Sanchez of Rutherford, David Saunders of Hawthorne, Christian Tavis of Howell, Catherine Thurston of Bayonne, Sarah Van Vliet, MFA ’23, of Parsippany, and Ashley Villarreal of Bloomingdale.

This year's show was juried by members of the William Paterson Department of Art Graduate Committee and all students currently in the MFA visual art program are represented.

Shifting is on view at 526 West 26^th Street, Suite 1001, in New York City. The gallery is open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
