Middle School Mathematics, Graduate Certificate

Program Description:

The goal of the mathematics certificate program is to prepare previously certified teachers in middle school mathematics. The program consists of four math content courses (ELCL) offered by the Department of Educational Leadership and Professional Studies and one course (MAEN) offered by the Mathemetics Department.

Application Deadline

August 1st: Fall semester
December 1st: Spring semester
*Applications received after the deadline will be reviewed on a space availability basis

*International students are advised to apply by:
April 1st: Fall (September intake)
November 1st: Spring (January intake)

Exit Requirements:
  • The completion of 15 credits of prescribed graduate study for all concentrations.
  • Candidates who pass the Middle School Math Praxis will be eligible to be recommended for the middle school mathematics endorsement in New Jersey by William Paterson University's Office of Education Enrollment & Certification. (Apply for Licensure)

Admission Requirements

In addition to the University’s admission requirements:

  • Cumulative grade point average of no less than 3.0 on 4.00 scale.
  • A copy of a teaching certificate (CEAS or Standard License)
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and official transcripts from all institution's of higher learning attended
