Catch the Excitement at Homecoming 2010 Join mascot Billy the Bear as the University celebrates Homecoming 2010 on Saturday, October 2 Alumni are invited to join university mascot Billy the Bear on October 2 for a fun-filled day as the University celebrates Homecoming 2010. Come out to campus and meet new president Kathleen Waldron, cheer on the Pioneer Football Team and join with fellow alumni and students at a pre-game carnival and barbeque. “This year alumni have a special opportunity to meet our new president, Kathleen Waldron, who will be joining us for the festivities,” says Janis Schwartz, executive director of alumni relations. “I invite all of our alumni to demonstrate their Pioneer Pride and return to their alma mater for a wonderful day filled with activities.” President Waldron will attend the homecoming barbecue, which begins at 11:30 a.m. on the practice field adjacent to Wightman Field, where the Pioneer Football Team will take on Western Connecticut State University beginning at 1 p.m. “Our Homecoming zone will be right next to the football stadium, and we’re eager to join with students to show our support for our team,” says Schwartz. In addition to the events on October 2, alumni are welcome to attend a wide variety of Pioneer Pride events scheduled by students during the week of September 26.
