Program Description:

This 12-credit professional graduate certificate program is designed to prepare candidates to enhance their knowledge, skills, and competence in designing and teaching STEM and STEAM courses, to adequately integrate emergent technologies and/or the various forms of the arts into these courses. With the overarching goal of offering diverse learning opportunities and greater success to STEM for all learners, this program emphasizes the principles of culturally responsive pedagogy, project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, student-centered active learning, collaboration, and affective engagement to meet twenty-first century learning needs. Courses taken with this program will count towards the M. Ed in Curriculum and Learning: STEM/STEAM program.

August 1st: Fall semester 
December 1st: Spring semester 

May 1st: Summer semester

Admission Requirements 

In addition to the University’s admission requirements: 

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and official transcripts from all institutions of higher learning attended.  
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a scale of 4.00.* 
  • A copy of a CEAS or standard teaching license.**  

(*Applicants who do not meet the minimum GPA requirement may supplement their application with additional evidence in support of their academic potential for successful completion of the degree program.)
