  • Are you looking to increase your organization's brand awareness with the William Paterson community? There are several ways to connect with talented students and alumni seeking career and internship opportunities. Through our comprehensive services, you can communicate your organization’s culture, values, and identity to a targeted group of potential hires. Let us help you design and implement a campus visibility program. 

    Recruitment Options:

    • Post a Job or Internship on Handshake: Share your opportunity with our students and alumni via Handshake. Are you new to Handshake? Use these guides to help you get started with Handshake

    • Career Fairs & Networking Events: The WP Career Center hosts multiple in-person and virtual recruiting events each semester to provide opportunities to connect with our students.

    • Employer Information Sessions: Host a virtual or in-person session to showcase your company and share industry best practices or career preparation tips with our students. 

    • Recruitment Table: Host an employer pop-up table in our student center. Promote your opportunities and increase your company's brand awareness and visibility with our students. 

    • Employer Site Visits: Invite WP students to your organization for a tour or on-site information session 

    • On-Campus Interviews:  WP provides a professional setting to interview students in person on-campus or set up virtual interviews with WP students via Handshake.  All on-campus recruiting services are free when held in WP Career Center space.  The on-campus recruiting season is from September to early May.

    • Guest Presenter/Panelist: Share your industry knowledge with students through a  Class Presentation, University Cultural Celebration Event, Signature Industry Program, or with a student club or organization.

  • Community Based Federal Work Study Program
  • Overview

    The Federal Work Study Community-Based Federal Work-Study Program (CB-FWS) employs undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay for educational expenses.

    Community-Based Federal Work Study positions contribute to improving the quality of life for area residents by helping solve particular problems related to their needs.
    Job categories that are considered community service include:
    • Health care, child care, literacy training, education (including tutorial service), welfare, social services, transportation, housing and neighborhood improvement, public safety, crime prevention and control, recreation, rural development, community improvement, and emergency preparedness and response.
    • Support services to enrolled students with disabilities
    • Activities in which a student serves as a mentor for purposes such as tutoring, supporting educational and recreational activities, and counseling, including career counseling.

    Student Eligibility 

    • Students eligible for Federal Work Study through William Paterson University will qualify for this program.
    • Students will be able to work up to 20 hours per week based on eligibility requirements
    • Students may also utilize this program as a path to gain an internship and earn academic internship credit 

    How to Become a Federal Work-Study Community-Based Employer Partner

    The Office of Career Development provides interested employers with a contractual agreement stipulating student employment terms. The federal government and William Paterson University pay 100% of the student's salary.

    • All Employers will be vetted through the Career Development Center, and a site visit and employer on-boarding call will need to be completed before a site is approved as a partner

    Overview 

    The Pioneer Partner program allows corporations to increase their level of participation, build their brand, and establish a high-profile recruiting presence across campus. Joining the Pioneer Partner Program places your organization in a distinguished group of companies that directly support student career development and employment programs at William Paterson University and who actively participate in the Career Center's recruitment activities.
